There’s really not much to say concerning the 2010 Streamy Awards that haven’t already been said thusfar by the new media community itself. Perhaps the Streamy’s were proppelled to high, notably by Vanity Fair with their mention; “The Streamy awards are the Oscars of the web.” Then again perhaps the ‘tried and true’ award presentation of envelope opening, winner announcing and award giving ideal doesn’t work with new media. Went to my parents house…. Needless to say another adventure ensued. A life lesson, a test to my own strengths, weaknesses, limitations, capabilities, depths of the soul and limits of the human heart and my body’s strength and my mental stability that my constitution exhibits when I had already searched (or thought I had) the very depths of my soul and very existence; down to my own light, darkness, and mortality.
One should never assume they have sought the very corners of their being; heart, mind, emotion, soul, and mortality. I will be the first to tell you there will never come a time when you know the entirity of yourself until you are faced with particular situations or you are elevated to that next place at the end of your current cycle in life.
I have learned so much in the span of 7 days in their exactness. Day and night and wee hours inbetween. Not just about myself but the connections with others both positive and negative.
In sum up of my week I am saddened and yet uplifted, I love and feel compassionate but do so from a particular distance. I am grown. I am my own person. My life and my relationships matter and should be respected and upheld.
One minute it was love and then it was a battlefield, small details, can’t go back . I never meant to start a war, never meant to hurt. Hands tied for nothing, misunderstanding. Again I never meant to start a war. Not sure what we were really fighting for, we got our armor but we don’t have to fight. I don’t want love to ever be a battlefield. I never want or meant to start a war…

Sitting here on my iPod wasting battery life cause I want to have things squared away for the trip I’m taking. Tomorrow I’ll be boating, taxiing, flying and walking to my destination. Texas.
Needless to say I’m excited like a kid going to school for the first time. I’ve got my girlfriend with me and its her first time visiting the lone star state.
Anyhow this was just supposed to be a quick snippet of a blog to test this nifty app and gush a bit before I go to sleep.
Night all and enjoy your adventures wherever they may take you!

A Journey Back… November 23, 2009

So today we acquired an Atari 400 8-bit.
That’s really all I have to say about it … other than the awesomeness has yet to lose it’s novelty.
What is it about the golden age video game systems and the simplicity of the games that came with them originally? Honestly you cannot tell me if you experienced the origination of the video game system that when you come across it now it strikes some vibrant chord within you.
It’s that feeling… I’m sure it’s known by most of us. It’s like when you hear a child laugh at the simplicity of a butterfly’s wing brushing across their cheek. Feeling that twang of nostalgia when you recant how it felt to experience such a thing for the first time yourself.
It’s like feeling the wind on your skin the first time you rode your bike without training wheels. That all the scrapes and bruises and tears and fears were worth that moment of joy and accomplishment and above all… the simple pleasure of your youth.
A lego house, lincoln log cabin, your favorite cereal, frogs, bugs, a pet rock, floaties keeping you up in the water… all of that wrapped around the sound of the ice cream truck coming down your street and you’ll know what that feeling is.
That’s what it’s like when you start playing these games again. Even if just for a moment, the world around you fades away and you’re just a kid sitting in your onesy pj’s with that plastic sheeting on the bottom of the built in booties and the rear hatch DIRECTLY in front of the television, head tipped back, edge of your tongue out, throwing all your might into a directional joystick that only goes North, South, East and West.
That’s what this is…
So to anyone reading this I say to you. Take a moment, even if it’s not an 8-bit… just take a moment .. pull out that box in the back of your closet or the one that sits in your attic or storage space, call your mom or your dad and ask about the box of your stuff they have. The holidays are coming up.. just take that moment.
A single simple moment.. to let the world and its weight with age and responsibility and stress and everything else in the world today and just close your eyes. Take a deep breath, let the ache of the world slip away from your shoulders and smile. Take whatever it is that brings back those moments to you and just to it… just relish in that.
Then I ask of you, and I know I’m asking alot her but… try to take that feeling, those sensations, that rush of simplicity and innocence and joy and carry it with you every day.
AMA’s November 22, 2009
Posted by shadhavar in Uncategorized.add a comment
We have Janet in the opening.. and I don’t care what anyone thinks I truely feel that Michael was attempting to start looking like a young Diana Ross and it segued into wanting to look like Janet.
Beautiful medly opening.. to the point of having peeps in the INDUSTRY jumping up and down..
Black Eyed Peas, Kings of Leon, and Nickleback.. Black Eyed Peas wins..
Now we have Band/Group country… Rascal Flats wins it.. and this is their 4th year to win it in a row…
Slipping over into Daughtry… cause y’know 4 AMERICAN IDOLS in the house doing stage shows ain’t bad no? Even if it’s 2 winners and 2 should’ve winners…
So in watching the AMA’s not impressed with Shakira… this isn’t stomp the yard… what happened to the latina ??? I mean she’s beautiful and she has a great figure but… the fuck.. it’s like rap and stomp and cheer leading … seriously this is like a very bad drum line routine at a pep rally with the star cheerleader in the center cause she’s blonde and has a nice ass… the fuck.. I miss Shakira before she was a she-wolf..
Now we have the comentary… And then we have the snark… I’m telling you now the latin ladies in their own beautiful romantic language ‘hunk and a half’ will outdo anything in english.
And then we have Keith Urban.. he’s cute and his music is pretty… he’s married to nicole kidman.. he’s like rocker country. Glam rocker shiney.. his shirt, guitar strap, hair, pants and guitar were SPARKALEEEE…
Followed by Reba….. the red head of country…nice… introducing Kelly Clarkson… I can’t even write anything about it outside of the fact that the girl can sing LIVE well… and she has a symphonic backup.. you HAVE to have a proper voice in order to pull that off. Not only to sing it but to add yourself to each and every note.. to make that song a part of you and then let it go to everyone in that audience. Be it ten people or ten million.
Snoop Dogg and Joe Perry… dayum… I didn’t realize Joe was that damn tiny… nor Snoop bein’ that damn tall…
Female Artist Noms:
Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift sweeping on by… she’s rehearsing tonight in London and she just won… someone get Kanye at wembley… she’ll sell more albums than she has… don’t get me wrong any singer songerwriter starting at 16 that can make it to where she has I commend. Farther than most any new peeps can get with just a voice.
A Rod is there.. which means Kate Hudson has to be around somewhere… woo talkin’ about the world now introducing the new york song which I love… Alicia Keys & Jay Z… and holy shit she cut all her hair off.. she’s a great voice and a pressence..
And perez hilton needs to have his ASS beat in by the entirity of the black eyed peas not just their manager… shit. Boy annoys the piss out of me..
Where’s Green Day’s eyeliner…
Everytime they perform this song Alicia Keys should be the front runner.. not playing second fiddle to Jay Z which granted I’m sure what he’s saying is valid but I’m much more impressed by Alicia.
Melissa Ethridge is there groovin”’ again most peeps are waiting for Alicia to sing ‘now you’re in NEW YORK!!!’ and have it vibrate through them like a siren.
Whitney Houston is certainly diggin it.. and there’s Mary J Blige.. love her..
And here’s Christian Slater… introducing.. Alternative Rock..
favs:
Greenday – Kings of Leon – Shinedown
Winner is Greenday.. okay… wow… wasn’t expecting that one. I was hoping for Shinedown and expected Kings of Leon.
Woo Black Eyed Peas.. really… meet me halfway? The song you should’ve played was I Gotta Feelin… people like it more.. and you can actually sing that LIVE better than meet me halfway.. There we go boom boom pow.. that’s better.. and we got speaker transformers… yeah… oiy…
Now we have
Jamiee Foxx, Michael Jackson, Maxwell for Soul & R&B
AMA goes to Michael Jackson…
And of course accepting the award.. is Jermaine I’m getting royally aggitated at the Jackson bros who are now trying to revive their careers and images and lives now that their brother is gone.
Zack Brown band… we’re basically rednecks in the city doin’
Country Male Artist..
Jason Aldean, Darious Rucker & Keith Urban…
Keith Urban wins it and THERE’s Nicole Kidman… dayum… and a nice shot to Daughtry.. I’m sorry I’ve been distracted by Nicole Kidman.. aww for her and Sunday Rose.. that’s such a pretty name.
Soul & R&B Female
Beyonce, Keisha Cole & Keri Hilson
And it goes to.. Beyonce.. OH and now we have Neyo… introducing.. Rhianna…Rated R inded… doing a saint andrews cross.. spikes… body wraps… fire… chains…mic stand cane… perhaps this episode with Chris Brown has lead her to do S&M? Her dancers / band look like extras from the cell and silent hill. Oh look she’s her own laser light show…
I commend her for being honest and coming out with everything she has about Chris Brown.
And now Rascal Flats announcing Carrie Underwood… country wanting to crossover… maybe Simon was right.. she can’t do anyting beyond country. She has a good sound and power and can do Country Rock and she can sing bluesy ballands with that counrty flair… but still.. someone get her out of the 1940′s depends please…
Followed by Lady Gaga in a nude body suit with light up BONES… fuckin Lady Gaga love her… how many people do you know that can work their own name into the song… awww yeah on the BROEKN piano now… on FUCKING FIRE…holy shit… she has such a beautiful voice… she gets overlooked vocally because of her showmanship.. oh really we had to go to Perez Hilton after that? Someone punch that bitch out… seriously…
Here we go.. with Mary J Blige… she has a great voice and an amazing respect for her fans… life has not been the kindest to her but she’s turned it around and written about it and produced it in her music like a true artist. I’m always so impressed with her.. it’s kinda odd.. and up next we have.. Breakthrough Artist is Gloriana… yeah okay am I gonna get shot for not knowing who they are? I wanted to see the insanity by
And we have knock out by Jennifer Lopez… and dancers pretending to be boxers… for her new album ‘Love?’ hrm… wow .. that was a hot mess of shite … if you can’t perform sing then just stand and sing.. have the surrounding show make up for your lack in that area.. if you can dance then dance and make your background singers make up where you’re lacking there.. if you can do both.. then do both.. however if your talent is PERFORMING then perform the hell out of it.. examples being Cher, Madonna, .. Lady Gaga..
Seriously.. now we have Samuel L Jackson giving out the award for international star to Whitney Houston… which is true.. but -my- whitney died just after the bodyguard… There we go with the one sleeve covering her bad arm… she sounds so much stronger than she did at the grammy’s a few years back.
She’s only got her mid and low ranges.. her high register is gone from all the shit she’s gone through. IN looking at Reba she understood not only the lyrics but the appropreiteness of them in Whitney’s case. Ironically I can’t help but think of Whitney and then Rhianna and go ‘hrm… Rhianna that’ll be you if you don’t get your shit together.’
Whitney had such a glorious voice.. gone because of drugs.. really?I remember when that woman could stand and take a breath and hold an ENTIRE audience captive before she belted out a note with enough strength to knock you back into your seat.
Regardless Whitney’s performance was very classy and beautiful and had a strength to her I haven’t seen in years..
Now we’re up to favorite country artist..
Reba , Taylor and Carrie…
It goes to… Taylor Swift… in London winning another award… okay we knew she was going to win alot and it’s still not over for her.. and nice segue into Melissa Ehteridge… talking abot Michael Jackson.. pop rock male artist
Eminem, Michael Jackson & TI
Michael Jackson wins another one.. and there’s 23 ama’s won by any artist. Broken records. I can’t stand Jermaine.. you’re not michael get over it and be thankful you’re a Jackson..
Now into Alicia Keys…wearing a chain mail jacket.. and singing with it.. that thing has to weight at least 30 lbs on top of her.. while singing… she’s not a big performer not massively flashy but she’s sensual, she knows her limits and where her body goes and how to move it.. and what she lacks she makes up with her voice.. and her perfomance behind a piano.. she’s the most comfotatable there.
Then there’s Seth Green… introducing… Eminem and 50 Cent… really he has to promote his charges? Even if they’re made up for his rapper persona Slim Shady? Still even Eminem says he’s a performer and his lyrics are just that.. a performance.. then you have 50 cent.. course he’s had the shit shot out of him.. one has to admit Eminem can keep up with the best of them.. white boy can’t dance but he can write and rap.
Segue into Timbaland? With Nelly Furtado.. and SoShy nice.. followed by 21 guns by Greenday.. who said fuck you to their fan base and grew up with them… now they’re more respected by critics and their fans are mostly those of us who remember them from middle school and then their comback recently along with the new scremo preteens… who can take a back seat to my ass thank you muchly.
Though one has to wonder is my statement akin to any that those who’ve experienced other artists that younger generations are now rediscovering with either reunion tours, revivial tours, or the popularity of games on the market now like the Hero & Band games out? Perhaps.. with alot less sarcasm and alot more respect and a wider vocabular…. who the fuck am I kidding. I should get money for the number of parents I’ve heard in gaming stores lately talking amungst themselves nearly losing their shit upon overhearing some adolecent pre-teen going ‘who’re the beatles? oh they’re those guys in the game’ OR ‘the who? huh? They’re not on twitter?’ Or one of my favorites that even gets me wanting to rush over and smack the shit out of them..”Queen? It’s all guys..that’s gay..” Don’t you dare fuck with my Freddy Mercury… igits..
Now we have favorite rap/hiphop male..
Eminem, Jay Z or TI
and it’s Jay Z.. and his guest vocals like Kanye… Rhianna… Beyonce… Alicia Keys… but hey the man does know how to -hear- music.. he produces some great artists and his partner is Beyonce.
And now we have Artist of the year…
Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Kings of Leon, Eminem and the winner is.. Taylor Swift… really wow.. and they interupt her rehersal.. holy crap… here we go Adam Lambert..Damn. I have to say he’s so GOOD.. alot of people are like ‘wtf’ with him but he knows how to perform.. he turns it on and turns it off and becomes himself after it.. just like Kelly Clarkson.. she turns it on when she sings and when she’s done she gets all dorky and silly again..
Anyhow.. the night opened with Janet Jackson… and what an excellent medly that was.. cause damn… she does his moves but she has raw unbridled sex appeal… she still has a voice even if she
seems to get a little tired in the midst of her medly. She still kicks ass doing it aside from say Madonna, Tina Turner who else moves and shakes it that much that’s in her same age range? Everyone in that audience is jumping around like a nut… doing arobics .. not fans.. not family.. INDUSTRY. Damn Reba was jumping up c’mon.. anyway I digress..
We ended the night with Adam Lambert… being an equal opportunist.. and proving yet again he’s a performance artist. He can sing the shit out of whatever you give him and make it his own. C’mon the boy sang with KISS and the remaining original members of Queen. His influences are Freddy, Bowie, Led Zeplin and Aerosmith..
All in all it was another one of those music performance shows with awards going to the highest seller/performer/bidder/ so forth… The most memerable performances thusfar were Janet, Lady Gaga, Kelly Clarkson & Adam Lambert…

I’m sitting here watching Days of Our Lives and I can’t help but feel sorry for Nicole as she’s watching Sammy with Sydney… it’s like she’s just now realizing her own baby is gone. She’s had Syd to keep her mind preoccupied until now when there’s NOTHING she can do… well there is but I don’t think anyone would attempt it after getting the shit slapped out of them like she did by Sammy.
Then there’s Carly Bo and Hope. Is this going anywhere? Really? I mean it’s kinda the awesome seeing Vivian again and maybe she’ll bury Carly alive again. Cause right now the whole fucking with her mind (just like what happened before…) been there done that who cares… do something more interesting.
And another thing can we pick up the pace a little bit here Days? OLTL moves it and shakes it like nobodies business. Not only that but the little monologues breaking through the 4th wall at the end of every other commercial break make me want to spork my damned eyes out already. I mean don’t get me wrong I understand why they do it, it’s a staple, it’s an engaging ‘trivial pursuit’ for daytime that was done previously. But still it’s just so odd, only a portion of the cast actually ‘gets into it’ when they break that wall.
Typically when one breaks the 4th wall its mostly carried out by the character hinting that they are “aware” of the fact that they are in a TV show or movie. Very often it was a standard in Greek comedy. The reasons for doing this are plentiful, but the most obvious reason is that it helps draw the audience into the show. Varying people have used this jarring effect to make a point, as it forces an audience to see the fiction in a new light and to watch it less passively. Bertolt Brecht was known for deliberately breaking the fourth wall to encourage his audience to think more critically about what they were watching, referred to as Verfremdungseffekt (“alienation effect”). Breaking the fourth wall is often employed for comic effect, as a sort of visual non-sequitur; the unexpected departure from normal narrative conventions is often surprising and creates humor.
The fourth wall is sometimes included as part of the narrative, when a character discovers that they are part of a fiction and ‘breaks the fourth wall’ to make contact with “the real world”.
Thusfar… it’s a poorly executed variation of ‘how well do you know out show’ Then again, it could be worse. Right?

Watching all the shows thusfar…
Winners:
Mercy
The Forgotten
NCIS: Los Angeles
The Good Wife
Close Second:
Eastwick
CSI: Miami
Anxious to see FlashForward, CSi:NY, L&OSVU and others…
It amazes me how much I’m watching television again… I’ve been one of those off and on watchers. I would watch or typically tivo and eventually watch at the end of a week or just let it get deleted from my tivo on it’s own and catch up on an episode online by a synopsis or wikipedia.
In turn I would tivo a movie and play it on repeat while going about my day or evening while going about everything else and gradually catching up as I go. Most often because everything that was on was intriguing to a point but not interesting enough to hold my attention with plot for more than 10 minutes. That happened for a few years, it just seemed as if the only thing on TV was reality or the typically revamped cop drama in a new city.
Now however there’s still the reality and the cop drama however now it’s peppered with a bit more flare you have Eastwick and possibly Flashforward covering the sci-fi & fantasy element of television. You have the forgotten which takes care of the newer spin on the cop drama by having it be people who are connected by a missing person who volunteer their time and try to string pieces together on top of the classics that we have floating in the television mainstream…
Therefore I’m impressed with the coming line up of shows that’re trying to be different or show another side of the same typical things we’ve already seen prior to now… hopefully I won’t be disappointed. It’s one thing to see a new show pilot or the season premiere of a prior favorite… it’s quite another to have the bar set to a particular point from episode 1 or seasons opener 1 into say episode 5 … is the level the same.. is it lower or does it deliver more than you expected?
Thusfar The Forgotten holds my attention because it’s Christian Slater and his team is stellar… everyone of them has someone who’s missing, they’re trying to give a sense of closure to people who’ve never had it. To give a name to a face… everything.. when they’ve never had it and may not ever get it despite the volunteer work they do AND that others do everyday everywhere..
The Good Wife peaks my interest because of Julianna & Archie, on top of not dwelling on the whole ‘recovery’ and wallow period of the wife who realizes her husband has been having high priced affairs with hookers. Instead it’s about her moving forward… trying to maintain her life.. protect her children and yet take us on the journey of why she’s still there… with her husband.. where most everyone would say what her co-worked said “I would’ve cut out his heart..” and the response was “Y’know I thought the same thing.. until it actually happened…”
Mercy strikes a chord because my mom was a nurse and there are elements of it that I saw first hand even if she was in a separate unit. The nurses are younger and prettier, the doctors are the same but everyone has a separate edge outside of the medical soaps (as I like to call them) that we’ve seen before (read: ER/GA). The nurse just back from Iraq who fell in love with another solider while back home her husband cheated on her because she left. The ‘jersey girl’ bad ass nurse who’s seen a bit more of life than she lets on and wants something better than ‘the guys who have no money, no job, no nothing but a good body and a great omelette’s the morning after.’ Followed by the young fresh out of college top of the class no experience youngin trying to make her place…
Guess I’ll just have to wait and see how it all goes …. again I really hope I won’t be disappointed.
